Tourism New Zealand teams up with Thai Airways and Auckland Airport to promote special fares
Partnership aims to increase travellers on the Bangkok – Auckland route from India

Tourism New Zealand has launched a new joint venture partnership with Thai Airways and Auckland Airport with an aim to achieve 50,000 arrivals from India by 2017. This campaign introduces special promotional fares from as low as INR 60,762 return for travel between March 2015 and September 2015, with booking validity until March 2015.

Tourism New Zealand has witnessed steady growth in visitors from India and the market holds great potential for the destination. As at December 2014, New Zealand’s visitor arrivals from India were 37, 392, an increase of 20.7% on the previous year. Of these, 17,280 were holiday arrivals, a 17.6% increase on the previous year. The new partnership with Thai Airways and Auckland Airport aims to further increase preference for New Zealand amongst the families and young professionals, with a particular focus on Delhi, Kolkata and Hyderabad.

New Zealand is currently high on Indian travellers’ radars as co-hosts of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, an event that not only showcases India and New Zealand’s sporting ties but also the unique tourism experiences available in New Zealand.

The country’s compact size makes it possible to experience everything from kayaking on flat calm waters, to a rejuvenating bush walk past a mystical waterfall, followed by an incredible meal in a vineyard with sweeping views of rolling countryside, or lapping up the gallery and café culture of a vibrant metropolis, all within a few hours.

Speaking about the partnership Steven Dixon, Regional Manager South and South East Asia, Tourism New Zealand said, “The outbound travel market from India is growing rapidly and is a promising source of international travellers for Tourism New Zealand, Thai Airways and Auckland Airport. New Zealand offers travellers the ultimate holiday experience – a chance to immerse oneself in the stunning nature and warm culture of the country, having a new adventure every day. We hope the latest campaign encourages an even greater number of Indians to make their New Zealand holiday dream a reality.”

Norris Carter, Auckland Airport’s General Manager Aeronautical Commercial added: “In recent years we have seen strong growth in the number of Indians visiting to New Zealand for their holidays. Last year alone saw a 17% increase to over 17,000 tourists, compared with 2013. Auckland Airport is delighted to be able to work with Thai Airways and Tourism New Zealand to boost awareness of our country and its exciting adventures and experiences.“

Korakot ChataSingha, General Manager-India, Thai Airways International added: “It is our pleasure to partner with Tourism New Zealand and Auckland Airport to stimulate more visitors to Auckland. Our main focus is to increase tourists to Auckland especially with our increased daylight flights from New Delhi and new additional daylight services from Kolkata which will give greater and immediate connectivity into Auckland. Seeing the successful results of our earlier promotion with Tourism New Zealand during November and December, we will once again concentrate on the leisure and students/VFR segments. THAI is coming out with special promotional fares to support the initiative to boost traffic during Feb-MAR’15, which will be valid for outbound travel till 30 Sept 15.”
