Gujarat Tourism gears up to welcome tourists from Mumbai
With the onset of hot summer and holiday season, Gujarat Tourism is setting up a red carpet for tourists from all over India.

To showcase Gujarat as a ‘must-go-place-for-tourism’, Gujarat Tourism held an exclusive travel meet with the leading tour operators of Mumbai today. The tourism fraternity of the city updated and appraised about what all Gujarat has to offer to the tourists this summer. Tour operators were seen enthusiastic to promote Gujarat as one of the prime destinations in India for tourism. Gujarat Tourism had started its summer campaign from Chennai.

A strong contingent of 40 top tour operators and hoteliers from Gujarat has descended in the city just for that purpose so that can network and interact with the city tour operators and encourage the local stakeholders to promote Gujarat centric packages to their customers across Mumbai and beyond.

A B2B meet was arranged where the invited tour operators from the city could get a one to one opportunity to discuss packages/destinations with the stakeholders from Gujarat. Gujarat Tourism officials were around to see and encourage maximum number of meetings between Gujarat and Mumbai travel operators.

On offer were various hotel packages from Gujarat and summer destinations like Gir, Saurashtra tour, Saputara, Archaeological monuments, etc. Gujarat is home to the Asiatic breed of lions, found in the Gir sanctuary. Tourists can now book their safari trip to Gir Sanctuary online. The Saurashtra Darshan trip operated by Gujarat Tourism takes the tourists to the holy shrines of Somnath & Dwarka along with historic destinations like Junagadh, Rajkot and Porbandar- the birth place of Gandhi. Apart from that Saputara in South Gujarat is fast emerging as a getaway summer hill station.

Gujarat Tourism has been playing an active role in catalysing the development of tourism destinations in the state. Promotional campaigns have gathered pace and are widely acclaimed and appreciated.

Gujarat, apart from being home to some of the most sought after tourist destinations, is home to a rich and diverse cultural and traditional heritage. The past comes alive when festivals here are celebrated in traditional manner, with immense zeal and fervour. The Gujarat growth story has expanded to include tourism - a sector that has immense potential to change the course of employment and economy in the state and country. The political will and a burning desire to develop tourism exist in Gujarat and the outcome is there for all to see. The gross tourist arrivals flow during the year 2013-14 was 287.88 lacs. The gross tourist arrivals flow was 13.30% higher than the flow in 2012-13.
